Research and fact-checking for this run primarily on our own, self-hosted infrastructure (self-hosted search and web-retrieval services, and a self-hosted language model), which does not leave our own systems. Only where our own infrastructure is not sufficient, for example to resolve a genuine factual contradiction found during research, do we escalate to an external language model provider, Eden AI SAS (Paris, France), acting as our processor under a Data Processing Agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR in place since 12 August 2026. These requests go exclusively through Eden AI’s EU-only endpoint, which technically rejects any model hosted outside the European Union before it can be reached; no transfer to third countries takes place. Only editorial article content and publicly available research material are submitted to these services, never personal data of our visitors. Content is not stored by the provider and is not used for training. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing accurate, up-to-date editorial content (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
